On 10th December 2023, the Sisters of the SNDdeN US East-West Province sent out a solemn message asking for prayers for the repose of the soul of Dorothy McCormick who had died on 9th December 2023 at 82 years and 64 years as a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur.

The University of Nairobi, Institute for Development Studies (IDS) wishes to share with you the 1st newsletter from the Collaboration for Active Mobility in Africa (CAMA) to have a feel of the activities the project partners were up to in the year 2021/2022.
The University Network hosted a three day workshop on adaptation finance and risk management ending on 31 March 2023. At the workshop, Dr. Joseph Onjala presented on climate vulnerability in the east of Africa provoking a conversation on the need for urgent adaptation finance in the region so as to reduce exposure to physical risks of climate change. The University Network is hosted by the SOAS Centre for Sustainable Finance.
IDS researchers who are part of the Diaspora Humanitarianism in Complex Crises (D-Hum) research project will join other speakers at the project's roundtable to be held at the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS) in Copenhagen on 7 June 2023. These researchers include Prof. Karuti Kanyinga, Dr. Obadia Okinda and PhD students within the project including Sahra, Abdirahman and Fatima.
The IDS team together with its collaborators in the Carnegie research project held an international workshop on decentralisation, inclusive citizenship and governing elites in Africa and the Arab world. The workshop was held in Hammamet Tunisia between 24th and 29th October 2022.
While at the LSE, Radha (together with Dr. Keren Weitzberg) presented her ongoing research on the regulation of digital credit in Kenya at the Inclusive Economies Seminar. Together with Prof. Kate Meagher, Radha co-organized a workshop on “Financial Inclusion and the Derisking State”.
The Institute for Development Studies (IDS) and the African Leadership Centre (ALC) in collaboration with the African Peacebuilding Network (APN) of the Social Science Research Council (SSRC) New York and Willton Park hosted a Town Hall discussion titled: Youth, Protest, and Peacebuilding: Conversation and Negotiation with the State in Africa.
