The IDS remains the premier institution in the region as demonstrated by the Government of Kenya in collaboration with the UNESCO in choosing Prof. Winnie V. Mitullah, the Director of the IDS to chair the planning and the Forum of Ministers which begins today, Tuesday 24th February 2015, at the Hilton Hotel. The forum is organized under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation’s  (UNESCO) Management of Social Transformation (MOST) Programme.

Afrobarometer Concludes Round 6 Survey

Afrobarometer has concluded data collection exercise for the Round 6 survey in Kenya .The countrywide survey was conducted from12th November 2014 to 3rd December, 2014.

The survey comprised a sample of 2,400 interviews clustered into 300 enumeration areas (EAs) across the 47 counties. The EA distribution is based on probability but also takes into account the adult or voting age populations as well as the rural-urban divide of each of the counties.

Dr Kinyajui’s Book Gains Global Recognition

Dr Mary Kinyajui’s book was one of the recommended books for reading in the month of June 2014 by an independent women website that promotes women's books. Also featuring on the list in the same month was a book written by Hilary Clinton, the former US First Lady and Secretary of State.

12 Students Awarded MAs

Twelve IDS students were awarded Master of Arts degrees in Development Studies during the 52nd Graduation Ceremony presided over by the University Chancellor on 5th December 2014.

Those who graduated were Nelly Chepngeno, Jamilla Harper, Peter K’Ochupe, Kevin King’e, Edwinah Mecha, Faith Mojongit, Ruth Muendo, Cythia Olouasa, Benard Omari, Geoffrey Otieno, Linda Wamalwa and Benta Wauna.
