UoN Celebrates World Refugee Day

The University of Nairobi, Yesterday, 17 June, 2015 led the country in celebrating the World Refugee Day.

The event held in collaboration with the UNHCR and the Kenya Red Cross drew participants from across the country and refugees living in Kenya. The theme for this year’s event was “Get to know refugees-Their Role in the country.”

On 11 March 2015 the Afrobarometer team in Kenya, led by Institute for Development Studies at the University of Nairobi, released findings on Devolution and Security. These findings were based on a survey of 2,397 adult Kenyans in November/December 2014. Previous surveys have been conducted in Kenya in 2003, 2005, 2008, and 2011.

AFROBAROMETER REQUESTS BIDS FOR SURVEY IN SEYCHELLES

The Afrobarometer Network wish to conduct a survey of a nationally representative sample of the adult population of the Republic of Seychelles. The purpose of the survey is to measure public attitudes and behavior on political and governance issues in order to inform the public debate about democracy, governance, and other policy and development issues.

The IDS remains the premier institution in the region as demonstrated by the Government of Kenya in collaboration with the UNESCO in choosing Prof. Winnie V. Mitullah, the Director of the IDS to chair the planning and the Forum of Ministers which begins today, Tuesday 24th February 2015, at the Hilton Hotel. The forum is organized under the auspices of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation’s  (UNESCO) Management of Social Transformation (MOST) Programme.

Afrobarometer Concludes Round 6 Survey

Afrobarometer has concluded data collection exercise for the Round 6 survey in Kenya .The countrywide survey was conducted from12th November 2014 to 3rd December, 2014.

The survey comprised a sample of 2,400 interviews clustered into 300 enumeration areas (EAs) across the 47 counties. The EA distribution is based on probability but also takes into account the adult or voting age populations as well as the rural-urban divide of each of the counties.
