Research Assistants trained on how to conduct key study on Climate Change, Vulnerability and Adaptation in Different Livelihood Contexts in Kenya
Climate change in Kenya is reshaping livelihood systems across diverse ecological and socio-economic contexts, intensifying vulnerabilities while demanding tailored adaptation strategies. In arid and semi-arid lands (ASALs), recurrent droughts, erratic rainfall, and rising temperatures undermine pastoralist mobility, degrade rangelands, and heighten conflict over water and grazing resources. These vulnerabilities are compounded by gender inequalities, land-tenure constraints, and living conditions.
With the Institute's vision of being a leading centre of excellence for development research, the Institute for Development Studies and researchers from the University of Colorado Boulder trained research assistants to conduct a study on Climate Change, Vulnerability and Adaptation in Different Livelihood Contexts in Kenya. The research assistants were trained to conduct Focus Group Discussions, which were conducted in Isiolo, Narok, Kakamega, Meru, Machakos, and Uasin Gishu counties.
