INTALInC Conference 2026: Addressing Transport Inequalities in Global South Cities

Between 19th – 21st May 2026, the Institute for Development Studies- University of Nairobi, represented by Prof Winnie Mitullah, Dr Anne Kamau, and Ms Paschalin Basil took part in the INTALInC conference themed “Addressing Transport Inequalities in Global South Cities, ” at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. Basil Paschalin presented on the topic “The Role of Public Participation in the Implementation of Walking Infrastructure in Nairobi City County, Kenya”. Addressing Transport Inequalities in the Global South focuses on the everyday mobility experiences of low-income urban populations in the global south. It confronts the intersection between poverty and policy through the lived realities of these communities. The conference created a platform for collaboration between policymakers, planners and civil society to stimulate knowledge exchange, practical experience and research findings to shape and promote more inclusive urban mobilities.
