Generalizing democracy: a horizon for reimagining economic models for a substantive democracy in Africa.
It was a pleasure to have our Director Prof Paul Kamau and Paschalin Basil a Project Coordinator attending the “Generalizing democracy: a horizon for reimagining economic models for a substantive democracy in Africa” conference in Dakar, Senegal. Present were a diverse international consortium of African and global institutions: University of Cape Town (UCT) (South Africa), Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) – (Morocco), Université Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD) ( Senegal), Institute for Development Studies (IDS) – (Kenya), Fondation Boissel– (France) and AFD (Agence Française de Développement) (France).
Under the Transformational African Leaders (TAL) Program, the consortium aims to build the leadership capacity of a new generation of African system changers capable of navigating complexity and driving transformative, ethical, and sustainable change across the continent. The program is anchored in Ubuntu-based leadership values, democratic governance, and the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), with the ultimate goal of contributing to "The Africa We Want" (Agenda 2063).
