Diaspora Humanitarianism in Complex Crisis

IDS Role:

To develop the concept of humanitarian infrastructures to analyze material forms of transport, communication systems and technologies as well as the institutions and social networks that facilitate humanitarian relief.

Project Description:

This collaborative research project explores how Somali diaspora groups mobilize, channel and deliver humanitarian assistance to Somalia during complex humanitarian crises.

Collaboration nature of the project:

This project is a collaborative project being implemented by a consortium comprising of the Institute for Development Studies (IDS), University of Nairobi (UoN); Rako Research and Communication Centre (RC), Hargeisa; Rift Valley Institute (RVI), Nairobi; and the Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS).
