Herbert Wamalwa is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Development Studies (IDS), University of Nairobi.
Dr. Herbert Wamalwa has a PhD in Development Studies from the Institute for Development Studies, University of Nairobi. His main research interest is how firms in developing countries build their capabilities in their quest to be innovative and successful. Throughout his PhD, he was also a Project Assistant at IDS. This accorded him the opportunities to develop his project management and research coordination skills through extensive involvement in fieldwork, data analysis, research writing and dissemination to stakeholders. Herbert Wamalwa has also been involved in teaching courses on Research Methods; Entrepreneurship and Development; Economic Informality and Development; and Rural Societies and Change.
He has been part of several research projects at IDS. Currently, he is part of two projects. The first is researching how social entreprenuers learn to build their capabilities in East Africa funded by IKEA while the second is looking at the governance of solar electronic waste in Kenya funded by DANIDA.
