The Institute for Development Studies on Thursday, 7th March 2024 held a colloquium in honour and memory of the late Prof. Dorothy McCormick.

The hybrid event, moderated by Prof. Paul Kamau and Dr. Radha Upadhyaya allowed friends, colleagues and former students of Prof. McCormick from around the world to share their reflections on her work and life.

On 10th December 2023, the Sisters of the SNDdeN US East-West Province sent out a solemn message asking for prayers for the repose of the soul of Dorothy McCormick who had died on 9th December 2023 at 82 years and 64 years as a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur. The University of Nairobi fraternity, and particularly at the Institute for Development Studies (IDS), lovingly remember her as Prof. Dorothy McCormick. She joined the University of Nairobi in the year 1988 and retired from IDS as a Research Professor in the year 2018 leaving behind a stellar academic record that will be remembered for many years to come.
