Prof. Dharam Ghai

Prof. Dharam Ghai was a Professor of Economics at the Institute for Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Nairobi. He was IDS Director (1971 to 1974). He was a senior economist on the World Bank-appointed Commission on International Development under the Chairmanship of Lester Pearson, former Prime Minister of Canada and Nobel Peace Prize recipient. He was the Director of Research of the World Employment Programme of the International Labour Organization (ILO), as well as a former Director (United Nations Research Institute for Social Development – UNRISD) at the United Nations (UN).
