IDS trains Research Assistants for national Child Online Protection Survey

The Institute for Development Studies (IDS), University of Nairobi, last week, 31st March – 2nd April, trained about 100 Research Assistants ahead of a nationwide survey commissioned by the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA).  The study aims to gain insights into children's internet use in the country and will inform intervention strategies.

The research assistants were trained in research ethics and the safeguarding of all participants as they go out into the field around the country in the coming weeks. Further, the IDS research team and data experts guided the research assistants on sampling and survey methodology, as well as on Electronic Data Capture (EDC), which is a key data collection skill to ensure accurate and verifiable data capturing.

The Child Online Protection survey seeks to find out how children interact with online platforms and their safety awareness, and will also engage parents/guardians and teachers.
