The Institute for Development Studies (IDS), University of Nairobi, is pleased to invite you to a seminar titled: Policing the “Reserve” Wage: The Spatial Control of Unemployment, Carceral Labor Discipline, and Colonial Profitability in Depression-Era Kenya.
The main speaker is Dr. Jonathan Donald Jenner, Assistant Professor of Economics and Global Political Economy at the University of Manitoba. Mutuma Ruteere, Director, Kenya’s National Crime Research Centre will serve as the discussant, and the session will be moderated by Dr. Roseanne Njiru, Lecturer in the Department of Sociology, Social Work, and African Women Studies at the University of Nairobi.
