The Afrobarometer and Institute for Development Studies-UoN team comprising Eunice Karimi, Erick Muriithi Douglas Wanja & Daniel Iberi conducted a one-day Training and Capacity Building Workshop for Prospect Peace Institute Africa (PPI Africa/) — an independent policy research and consultancy firm based in Nairobi, Kenya on March 12, 2025.

The training focused on equipping the PPI Africa team with the knowledge and skills to effectively access, analyze, and utilize Afrobarometer data for research and policy analysis.

Key Highlights of the Training
During the workshop, the team provided:


✅ An Introduction to the Afrobarometer Framework & IDS – Setting the context for Afrobarometer’s role in evidence-based research across Africa and the pivotal role of IDS in knowledge dissemination.
✅ Afrobarometer Methodology – A detailed session on the survey design, sampling techniques, and data collection processes that ensure Afrobarometer’s data remains reliable, representative, and globally respected.
✅ Guided Tour of the Afrobarometer Website (www.afrobarometer.org) – We walked participants through how to access datasets, publications, and research resources available for use by scholars, policymakers, and practitioners.
✅ Hands-on Training on the Online Data Analysis (ODA) Tool – The team learned to navigate the ODA tool, a free, user-friendly platform that enables users to explore and analyze Afrobarometer survey data efficiently. The tool is accessible at: Afrobarometer ODA(https://lnkd.in/dPJw6G_r)
✅ Practical Data Exercises – Participants engaged in hands-on activities to apply their newfound skills in data exploration and analysis. The team demonstrated exceptional enthusiasm and aptitude, excelling in the exercises.
