IDS hosts the ‘Strengthening Democracy in Africa: Pathways Toward Inclusion, Participation and Transformation’ workshop

In collaboration with the Brookings Institute, the Institute was honoured to host the ‘Strengthening Democracy in Africa: Pathways Toward Inclusion, Participation and Transformation’ workshop. The forum was a two-day meeting held at the University of Nairobi on 25 & 26 Nov 2024. The workshop saw presentations on issues such as challenges to building credible electoral institutions, electoral manipulations, change of governments through unconstitutional means, and civic education related to the importance of the vote, among other topics related to democracy.

The Institute wishes to thank Africa Growth Initiative, CDD Ghana, Simon Fraser University, University of Bamako, University of DRC, Wellesley College, and IFPRI for their valuable presentations and discussions. IDS continues to foster collaborations with institutions with similar objectives, providing facilities that enhance intellectual exchange and collaboration among scholars.
