Alphonce Mollo

Alphonce Agola Mollo is a PhD fellow at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and the University of Nairobi (Kenya). His main research focus on the RARE project is titled, the translation of global climate change discourses to local policies: contextualizing pastoralists’ adaptation strategies. The overarching aim of this research project is to help international institutions unearth strategies to best support pastoralists’ land access and related claims to adaptation.
 

He is a fervent researcher on issues of climate change, policy discourses, rights and resilience, environment and development. He holds a Master’s Degree at the Institute for Development Studies, University of Nairobi and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies (Resource Conservation) from Kenyatta University. His other research interests are financial inclusion or finance for development, youths and conservation.
 

The specific research questions for his working papers are:

  1. What are the roles of civil societies in policy translation between global and local discourses on pastoralists’ climate change adaptation strategies?

  2. How are the discourses on land shaping pastoralists land rights and land claims for adaptation?

  3. What are the best practices on pastoralists’ climate change adaptation strategies, globally?
