Godwin Murunga is Senior Research Fellow at IDS. He is however currently on leave serving as Executive Secretary of the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA).

Dr. Godwin Murunga is the Executive Secretary of the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa (CODESRIA) based in Dakar, Senegal. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Development Studies at the University of Nairobi. He holds a BA and MA from Kenyatta University and an MA and Ph.D. in History from Northwestern University, Ill., USA. Dr. Murunga is a former Executive Committee Member of CODESRIA.

 

Some of his past projects include the following:

2011-2012: Co-investigator in an IDRC sponsored research on Young Women‟s Political Participation (100,000 Canadian Dollars).

2007- 2011: Convenor of the Gender Roundtable Series of the Department of History, Archaeology and Political Studies at Kenyatta University supported by an Annual Grant from Heinrich Boll Foundation.

2008: Ford Foundation IIE Grant to undertake a study visit to Universities in New York and Chicago on African masculinities (US$11,448).
