IDS Welcomes New Students

The Institute for Development Studies, University of Nairobi, has welcomed 17 students to pursue Master of Arts in Development Studies in the 2015/2016 Academic Year.

Prof Winnie Mitullah, the IDS Director, led academic and administrative   staff members in the welcoming ceremony and urged them to work hard and complete their studies within the stipulated period. The director told the new students to utilize the resources available both at the Institute and University and challenged them to contribute new ideas.

During the occasion, the students were briefed on MA programme at IDS, University examination, and thesis/project paper writing. Two student representatives, Esther Okello (2013) and Elizabeth Njeri (2014), also shared their experiences at IDS. 

Prof Patrick Alila, Prof Dorothy McCormick, Dr Godwin Murunga, Dr George Michuki, Dr Anne Kamau, and Dr Radha Upadhyaya tipped the students on how to excel in their academic endeavours. The dons emphasized discipline, self-motivation, focus, teamwork and academic honesty as some of the guiding principles.
