The Institute for Development Studies (IDS) will host   the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) public lecture on Thursday 29th October 2015 as part of the celebrations to mark the Institute’s 50th anniversary (IDS@50 Celebration).

The lecture, “Optimizing Africa’s Food Security for Jobs Under Climate Change,” will be delivered by Dr Richard Munang at the University of Nairobi, 8-4-4 Hall, from 2 PM. Dr Munang is the UNEP Climate Change Coordinator for Africa. He is also the UNEP Ecosystem Based Adaptation for Food Security Focal Person (EBAFOSA).

The idea behind the IDS@50 celebrations is to showcase IDS’s  contribution to development research and also bring together leading development researchers, development practitioners and IDS alumni to share ideas on contemporary development issues, including  post 2015 development goals and Africa’s 2063 Agenda.

The celebrations will include a conference on ‘Rethinking Development Studies’, public lectures and exhibition of development work by IDS development partners.
